Cant decide on ammo

RE: Cant decide on ammo
Even out of a butt cruddy bore my 870 Supermag was putting 190 Hevi 13 #6's in a 10" circle at 40.
I checked the bore and it was actually pretty rough so I did a thorough extended polish on the bore and forcing cone and it looks like a mirror now.
I expect after that treatment the same 2.25oz #6 load should give me well over 200 in that same 10" circle since it was basically doing that dirty and rough to start.
Don't overlook a thorough cleaning followed by polishing that bore, especially the forcing cone area.......it could make a significant difference in the patter density of your combo.

The old Rem. Hevi shot came in two different loads. The Hevi shot magnums and the Hevi shot high velocity. I never could get a desirable pattern with the high velocity. On the other hand, the magnums, which I still use, pattern excellent for me. I'm down to a box and a half of them. After they are gone, I will use Win. Xtended and Rem. Wingmaster HD's. Mouthcaller, do you know if the wad you are talking about was in the high velocity or the magnums?

Thats awesome! So...if i go to any sporting goods store and buy Hevi 13's, 3.5" 2 1/4oz #6's, will i be buying the right one? I mean, are Hevi13's all the same? I dont want to buy the wrong "color".

If you want peace of mind open the box and they should be a gold colored hull.
I like them so much I just picked up 3 more boxes, 5 shells to pattern verify with as soon as the weather breaks ,and the other 19 shells I have left to last me for years.
I really couldn't want for any other load.
