hunting in the rain for turkeys is a blessing. they tend to stay out in the open (crop fields, short grass fields, etc.) away from any place a predator could get close to them. the rain will weigh down the bird with many pounds of water weight, it will dampen the sound of an approaching predator, and the turkeys wing feathers are less effective in flying.you should keep that in mind and remember that this is only a common accurance, turkeys sometimes use other things to their advantage.
snow: most times i hunt turkeys in 1-3" snow i see them scratching in crop fields, but they are turkeys and the best way to know what they will do in your area is to scout them. they are cratures of habbit, making your return hunts more effective.

I also have luck turkey hunting in bad weather. If you stay dry it's fun turkey hunting in rain and snow. From my observatings turkey doen't seem to be that afected by snow. But when it's raining I always see them in fields like vmarin said.

and remember - though the weather is bad - they gotta eat.........doesn't matter if it is rain or snow.......be at that place they feed as it lightens up a bit and you will see birds.

this past spring i shot my biggest turkey in the rain andeven heard a lil thuinder.luckily i was in a dry ground-blind. my turkey was with a hen when he showed up out of nowhere after 15 mins of loud calling. i remeber he finally gobbled and it was 5yds from the blind and i swear it shook the blind. i was suprised that they were active in the rain..but they are...mainly like these other guys said out in crop fields, feedingbut they gotta eat, sleep,sh*t and mate like everything else in the woods.

Iparked myself in front of some pines in a field. It was raining all day. A flock came out behind me(not from the pines). 4 Toms, and at least 12 hens. They hung out in the field for half an hour before walking to the pines. I got one of the Tom's before he got there. I agree with VMartin, it is a blessing when it rains, they come out in the open and can't hear a thing.
Good Luck this weekend!
