Any info on Richloam WMA in Florida? Got drawn...
Hello..
My father and I decided to try and finish up our first grand slam this spring.. All we lack is an Osceola. We applied for the WMA quota hunts and got drawn for Richloam WMA from March 15-22. I have not been able to find out much info on this WMA and was wondering if anyone could help us out.
Thanks!

i hunted down there two years ago, deer hunting though. if its anything like it was then it'll be some kind of wet. there were some good areas assuming you can get to them. i saw more turkeys there than i ever did deer.

call the biologist for the area "game commision" and pick thier mind, you would be amazed what you can learn from a biologistand find out where all the prescribed burns are at, find the one that is mostREMOTE and farthest from roads , and crowds....that has a supply of water,or marsh etc.... and is next to a good brushey nestingarea that is well drained preferably sandy the hens will gravitate to this area because the controll burns have a %50 higher protein content and something like a 74% higher phophoris content, look for the burns that have green shoots coming up this is what the birds love, they go "bugging" for insects and eat the young tender shoots in there, remember in florida the turkeys are not the problem the other hunters are... so stay well clear of them ,they will crowd you in a heartbeat and ruin you hunt everytime, STAY CLEAR OF THE CROWDS,this will maximize your ods ten fold i guarentee italso when the wind is blowing gravitate to the area that have very mature pine trees these are the prefered roosting sites because they offer the best night sleep for the birdswhen the branches are swingin in the wind.drive down the roads and check all the fire breaks its a good way to find gobblers fast.....check out OLDGOBBLER.com -johny
