We had been having great spring weather, heard some birds and called them a little 1 week before opening day, which was April 6. Went down the 5th to camp and it had already turned off cold and started raining. Temps had been in the 70's at day, and mid to upper 40's at night. That night got to 35 and the next day was 38 with light snow. Not only did I not hear any birds, I did not hear a shotgun go off anywhere. I think this front that came through Oklahoma where I am turned them off.

I went back out monday and tuesday, not a single gobble. I think I will give it a week or so and let things settle down. Ther have been a ton of folks hunting out there and hopefully the weather will get better.

Not to worry, we had 13 legal birds within 50 yards last Saturday April 7th and the temp was 16 degrees with light snow in central Wis. during the youth hunt. We finally connected that evening and the temp was 30.
