well this year in wisconsin they have moved the hunting hours back from 5pm to sunset which at this time is around 720ish. I was wondering what time if the sun would set at 720 they would fly up to roost. I know the general area where several toms/hens are roosting within 50 yards or so and was wondering is it was a possiblity to ambush them on the way to and or right before they fly up before hunting hours are up. Thanks for the tips.

roost time is when they decide it is roost time. It is very possible to ambush them in the evening. Also you might try a bit of calling to see if you can get a curious bird to come into you.

Yes roost time is whenever they decide to go, say sometime before dark. Heck I had one roosting above my hot tub the other afternoon at 430pm. Scared the beejesus out of me. I wasnt ready for him to take flight...

That sunset hunting time will definately help me out in WI. If i can't get the turkeys in the morning, they will travel into the neighbors lands and really not come back til late afternoon because the property i hunt is where they roost, so i can just set up and wait for them to come back. I think you are going to see some older toms be taken this year because of that time change. If you know where they roost, you will just have to sit there and not even call.

I am trying something new this year, I am done getting up at 3am !
With the extended hunting hours in WI & MN, I am not going out till 10 am & staying out till 7/8pm. I drew a tag for May 13th-17th in MN & bought a WI tag for the 16th-20th the sunset is not till then...
I have more toms on film between 11am-4pm than any other time, that late in the season all the hens are sittin' by 9am!
