Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

All right ladies and fellas. Going to try my hand at turkey this spring and I have a couple of questions for ya. First let me say that I will be using a rem 870 express shooting a 3" shell. My first question is what range do I pattern the gun to. And my second question is what type of choke would I use. I know I have to just go out and shoot to find what combo shoots the best pattern, I just need a starting point. Thanks for all the help

You're going to get several suggestions to those questions. My opinions' only: Start at say 20 yds (get yourself some turkey targets, remington has some you can download), move in 10 yard increments out to at least forty yards. Buy at least 3 different shells, say, #4, 5, & 6s', try all three at the same distances. Count the numberof pelletholes in the killzones and recordeach. As for chokes, you'll just have to buy one and see what it will do. Myself, I bought 3 before I was satisfied with one. Once you get finished, which choke tube and loads had the most pellet holes in the kill zone for each distance. Now you'll know what to use.
