Mossberg users you need this!!

There is no reason to suffer from recoil resulting from a range session.
I bought one of the PAST recoil sheilds several years ago. I wear it every time I go to the range. I've also worn it underneath my coat waterfowl hunting and goose hunting in Canada. It is completely unobtrusive and works wonderfully.

Mouthcaller is that a pad that goes on your shoulder and straps around your back. If it is what I'm thinking of it's a very thin pad that feels like it might have a thin layer of gel in it. Anyway the reason I bought the simms replacment pad is because a buddy of mine had a pad like the one you are talking about (or similar to it) and that thin little thing took all of the hurt out shooting 3 1/2's. Now with the simms pad I can pattern and shoot more than I use to because it doesn't leave my arm sore for a week.

This year I bought a mossberg 835 and it about killed my shoulder. Today I bought a simms vibration lab recoil pad and man does it help. I shot it 9 times today and my shoulder wasn't sore at all and that was shooting 3 1/2's. If yours kicks as bad as mine you might want to give on of these pads a try, the difference in shooting with one and without one is like night and day.

Thats weird, I never had a kick problem with my 835 ulti-mag, even with using the 3.5 magnum shots. I am not saying anything bad, but did you compare the same kick with other guns of the same make maybe? Other than that, even doing a 100 clays at the range or just target shooting has never resulted in a sore shoulder, even with the manufacturers pad. I am glad that you invested in a product that works and reduces pain Killmeatm, but I wanted to let others know, even the ones wanting to buy a Mossberg 835 U/M, is that you don't need a different recoil pad other than the one provided by Mossberg, unless the 12 gauge shotgun is not for you. It would be compared to the same as a Remington or the like in the same round of about model....
good luck killmeatm, but my stock pad is fine with me.

Funny how things work out....
I was just (literally five minutes ago) outside patterning in my gun, and I could not take it anymore.
Even after a week of shooting only 3"ers, my shoulder is toast, and the pain is really really unbearable. It really is wierd, cause it didnt bother me a week ago, now the pain is just ultra intense.
Anyway, thanks for the reivew and the link, RebelHog, I just ordered a recoil pad and am really looking forward to getting it on my 835

Coyote stalker, I have shot 3 1/2's out of a beneli nova, browning gold, remington 870, and a browning bps 10 ga. As well as 3'' out of a rem 870 and a browning citori and none of those guns kicked near as bad as the mossberg 835, I guess it is because the mossberg synthetic is so much lighter than the other guns. I don't know maybe for some reason mine just kicks more thansome of the others. It hurt shooting it before I put the simms pad on it but not hard enough for me to not use it I love the gun with or without the the simms pad I just like it even better with the pad

Second of all, I think the investment into a aftermarket recoil pad is a good idea, especially if you arent enjoying the recoil. I have said this on here before and I will say it again, the ability to hold on a bird and not flinch out of fear of the recoil is 50% of the shot, and the end of your battle with a bird.
If you can deal with the recoil, then fine. If you dont like it, then get the pad

This is to Campo and Kill, You got it all wrong. What I was merely saying that the stock recoil pad for the Mossberg 835 is just fine for me, and I do not need a different pad. In my post, I stated that if a different recoil pad is what you want, great, but for me the stock pad is just fine. Obviously you both missed that, and created a arguement for nothing. Next time, read the whole post, and not just take a little out of it and take the subject way out of your personal interpretation. Reread my original post, because I gurantee you in that post, I stated that "it was great you found a better recoil pad, but for me, I did not need anything more than the stock one". And I was stating that for future buyers of the great M. 835, you don't NEED to get one, unless you can't handle the so-called recoil. Have a good day to you both.
