Out of my gun the Fed heavy weight didn't shoot good at all but then neither did the rem hev-shot. So far the best thing I have found is the Hevi 13 with the Win xtended range coming in a real close 2nd. This is coming out of a mossberg but my 870 liked the win xtended range alot better than the rem hevi and the fed heavy weight, I havn't shot the hevi 13 through my 870 yet.In the 870 I got the best pattern with a rhino .660 choke or a jellyhead .665. My hastings .660 and the puregold .670 didn't do all that great.

My friend also has his best results in his 3" 870..28" barrel with the 3" WIn HV #6's.I'd say stick with it if you are shooting 45yds or less.Go with 5's up to 50yds or so,and 4's to 55yds.If you were shooting a 3.5" I'd add 5yds to each of those distances,b/c there is 1/4 oz more shot in them.Hope I helped.
