I just got into traditional archery and recently fletched 1/2 doz. carbon woods with turnable nocks and want to know what is the best position for fletching to be coming off the shelf? should it be with one feather hitting the riser? or should it be hitting the risor or in the corner of the shelf? Like I said I'm new at this and know that trail and error will produce the best results but I just wanted a starting point.
PS I am using three feathers
Thanks

Hedhuntr,
I'd suggest setting the bottom hen feather to fly between the rug rest and the side plate or calf hair plate. The cock feather will or should be pointing straight out to the left (if you're right handed).
Usually, your nock height is high enough to do some compensating for fletching clearance, from shooting off of a "rug" style rest. However, each bow can be different.

I've experimented with having the cock feather out and the cock feather straight up, and haven't been able to tell much difference either way. It really boils down to what your bow likes.
