I started shooting 3 under from the start and have never looked back.
I received my first recurve from world champion Rick Welch.
I ordered his Instructional Volumn 2 video and copied his two point anchor.
I could shoot 3 to 4" groups from the start at 20 yds copying Rick' s anchor.
and have never looked back.
I have 3 recurves, at present, tillered for 3 under.
The only advantage I can see with split fingers is a hunting situation.
You have better control of the arrow shooting from a tree stand with split fingers since you are controlling the arrow better by gripping it between your fingers.
But, so far for me, I haven' t found it to be an issue while hunting.

I found out at the Children' s Benefit 3-D shoot at Tannehill State Park in AL this past weekend that a relatively new grip can lead to problems if you don' t pay close attention to detail. When I gripped a deep grip three fingers under, anchored with the first knuckle of my thumb behind my jaw, and drew until the cock feather was against the tip of my nose, my accuracy was excellent.

However, when I gripped split fingers and anchored in the corner of my mouth, or gripped three fingers under and anchored in the corner or my mouth, all of the practice of the past month went out the window. So did the accuracy!! Son, I couldn' t even get the arrow on the target!! [:@][:' (][X(]

I did buy a Black Widow three fingers under tab while I was there. While I' ve been practicing with it since I' ve been home, I have not had a problem with anchor point one time. Hopefully, I' ve found a cure for that problem. I guess I' ll find out when I go to Elberton, GA in two and a half weeks!!

I made the switch about 10 yrs. ago mainly for shooting at game that was moving. Even at a slow walk a person has a tendancy to look at the entire deer when shooting. The 3 under allowed me to keep my arrows in the kill even with a little " big picture" concentration. All of my custom bows are tillered for 3 under. If you happen to be a person that shoots Howatts (Martins) then you' ll find that their tillering seems to fit 3 under better than split finger.
