Three tips for a beginner are:

1. Pick a spot.
2. Pick a spot.
3. Pick a spot.

If you shoot over the back, chances are that you didn't follow my three tips.
I'll follow the first tip, but not the other two. Picking three spots would just be confusing.
LOL, just keep burying the spot deeper till you can see right through the deer.
I'll add one more tip to this also.

Pick a spot

Thanks!

How about this.

Shoot for the exit hole. That is a bow hunting tip in general. Not just a trad tip.

Littlechief- Do what is most comfortable. Alot of guys the first time out, find the angle when not practiced hard. I would as stated before, build or make a makeshift ground blind. This will give you the chance if needed to stalk the deer, worked for me three times last year. If hunting from stand, most is already covered by the other guys, just shoot the deer as if it was a little further than you think.
