Default Choosing a bow

I really want to get into shooting a recurve. I am looking at the Martin Rebel and Martin X-200 bows. Are these good for a beginner bow?

Personally, I'd rather get a used bow. Usually the used bows will hold their value and chances are that you may not want to shoot your first bow for a more then a few years. Also, you can get some real quality bows used. That has been my experience anyway.

I have the martin x 200 and i like it and it was my first recurve. It is a good bow and shots great and it has a good price.

I agree with getting a used bow. I just got my first, a Darton, from e-bay. It cost $75. I am having a ton of fun learning how to shoot it but I can see that it will lead to at least one more bow. This bow won't win any beauty contests but it is functional. I will hunt with it as soon as I can shoot well enough to do so. I'm glad that I won't have to wait for next deer season. I can hunt hogs year round.
BTW, another benefit to buying used is having more money to spend on arrows. It may take trying a few different shafts to find the right spine for your bow. That has been my experience.

The X200 is a great little bow and would serve you well. If you want to buy new, chekmate also makes a great one piece recurve. You can get a CM falcon for $240-$325 depending on the version you choose. The only down side of ordering a CM is the current wait time is fairly long, but they make a great bow. You can check with G&M archery. They usually carry a decent stock of the CM line. They may have something in stock. http://www.gmarchery.com/bows.php?rvar_index=0&rvar_mfg=All

Buying used is also a great option. There are severalclassifieds that you can keep an eye on. http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=5

Many times, you can pick up some good used equipment for a good bit less than what you'd pay new.
