3 and 4 blades will (obviously) make a bigger hole, but they also require more energy to penetrate. Personally, I rather have a smaller hole on both sides vs. a bigger hole on one side. Putting the arrow in the right spot will generally (not always, but usually) put the animal down quick, so a better blood trail isn't needed. I shot a fairly decent buck a couple years ago with a Ribtek (2 blade) and he only went maybe 30 yds--watched him fall.

Rich, I feel your pain (literally)! Back in my compound days I was taking some Muzzy heads off, and had lost my broadhead wrench. I'd done this before, and though "no biggie, just be careful". Cost me 5 or 6 stiches in my thumb. Funny thing, it didn't hurt much--at least not until I got the doctor bill!
