Specifically an Ibex or Scythian?
I don't know why, but these bows just speak to me. I wonder how hard it would be for a guy to make similar designed bow out of say osage or backed eastern red cedar?

Never shot any of the Saluki bows, but they do kinda reach out and grab your attention, don't they...
The one thing I have yet to get enough courage to try is bending wood. Doesn't sound like it'd be all that hard to do. Just boil or steam the wood til it gets pliable and clamp it to a formwhile itcools off. I assume you'd have to do the same with the backing before gluing it up, then put the whole shebang into the form while the glue sets.
I keep saying I want to do it, but I haven't had enough 'want to' yet to get the pipe and propane burner to do the boiling.[&:]

I'd love to shoot one.
From the pics, they appear to be lams and glass, so it shouldn't be much more difficult than the long bow you already built, right?
Everything I've been reading lately has guys using dry heat via a heat gun to bend dry wood, and only using moist heat via steam when the wood is "wet".
Hey, when you finally have at it, build two and send me one
