Quit dreaming about shooting better than you really do. <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Just messing with ya. It's probably something in your form. That happened to me last year and I found it was because I wasn't holding my bow arm still. If you can, have someone who knows what to look for watch you shoot. If you have a video camera you can record yourself shooting and see what's going on. If you're not able to do either of those, do some &quot;target panic drills.&quot; Stand a few feet away from your target and shoot with your eyes closed. While you're holding work on your form, making sure everything is holding right. When you release (still with your eyes closed) make sure it's a smooth release and you're holding your bow arm still. Make sure everything else is on too. Also, don't pay attention to where you arrow hits, other than on the target face/butt, just concentrate on your form. If it was a good shot form-wise, count it just like you'd count a bull's eye for accuracy, no matter where the arrow goes. Take another shot, if it's a bad shot form-wise, forget about it even if it robin hoods the other. Think about the good shots and what made them good shots and forget about the bad shots. If you can do that your mind will more readily remember the good things to do and those will start to become subconcious. When your form is back on start back to your normal shooting. You may find that when you get your form back you've got your accuracy back. Hope that helps you.

God bless,
Brandan

Just relax it's getting close to the season and alot of guys see this happen. One day doesn't make a season. You can work through this. Go back to the basics and work on your form and everything should come back. The key is not to panic.

Good luck

What is a &quot;dad day&quot;. I've been a dad now for 31 years and still have a good deal more years to go. I've often wondered if that was my problem. =O)

Seriously, though, one often encounters slumps. Sometimes one is paying too much attention to details and not allowing the body to do what it's been trained to do. Fatigue sometimes sets in as well or one's confidence begins to flag.

Sometimes one just needs to get back to basics as if one had never a shot a bow before. Get closer to the target, slow down and take your time, try to silence the little gremlin in your head who is criticizing everything you do, and so on.

Whatever's wrong ain't the bow and whatever's right is the archer.

I'd be willing to bet that it happens to everyone that shoots a bow. You found that your bow arm was the problem. With me, it's usually one or more problems and I have to slow down, get close and focus on the different things that make up my form and forget about accuracy, distance, the cute neighbor lady, the argument with the wife and everything else that clutters up my head and destroys my concentration.
