Are all stabilizers the same? Really, I look at them and wonder why 1 is $45 and the other is $15. I am shooting my new outback. I am getting decent groups without one. The bow is very quiet with no shock. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks

Hi Blood Trail,
Yes, there are differences between stabilizers. You can get them in varying lengths and weights. Some simply just add weight to the front of the bow while others might only help reduce vibration or noise. Some stabilizers do all of those things. They really are a matter of personal preference. Personally I've used a 4" Doinker, 7" Tranquilizer and a 6" Stealth. Of those three the Stealth felt the best to me. I've actually ordered an 8" version for a little more forward weight. Best advice is to head to a shop that will allow you to try out several models so you can see what's best.

derag2,
I did put one on it. I went with the small tru glo nullifier ($20) and it did improve the recoil. I was debating not putting one on it for the same reasons (plus it aint lite). It is quiet and well balanced but I have to say it has made a little bit of a difference in the recoil. The best advantage to it is being able to still be pointing at the target once the arrow is gone.
I could not be happier with the Outback, I had an FX that I liked but I think I am in love!

I don't think i could make myself spend 800 bucks for an outback. They are pretty sweet thou. I just can't see spending that much for somthing i'm gonna hunt with and get banged up.
but to each their own

I have a Buckmaster G2 and for the last two years, I haven't used one at all. It's quiet and I like having a lightweight bow but I have noticed lately that it is a pain to keep steady. (Had rotator cuff surgery Dec. '03
) I was at my local range and a guy let me try his target bow stabilizer. The thing weighed 18 ozs.! I have to admit that my bow was very steady with it on there. I just bought an 8 oz. stabilizer and am going to try it. I think the extra weight will help me keep the thing steady.
