I am considering going to a drop away rest. I think that I have it narrowed down to the GKF TKO or the MBG Trap Door. I have heard good things about both and I found them both at a local shop for about the same price. The TKO was $43 and the Trap Door was marked down to $48. I am guessing the Trap Door is last years model and they are moving them out for the new ones. Any advice or experience with either rest would be helpful. It will be used primarily for hunting and a little 3-D shooting.

I have used them both so can make an honest comparison. The TKO was the typical cord tied to the down cable type of rest. I think my fletch was hitting the cord. On my particular bow the rest had to be mounted high enough that I could not center my arrow in the rest hole. Lowering it to that point gave me consistent fletch contact with the rest. I think the rest would be better configured if the cord attached to the outside portion of the rest somehow. I do have to say that I don't like rests with a cord attached to the cables.
That's where the Trapdoor came to light. I mounted it and it works fine. Please note that there are different models. There is a Trapdoor and a Trapdoor LR. The LR is for Low Recoil bows such as many with parallel limbs and other vibration suppressors. The rest does work just fine, but is noisy. It's internal noise from the springs or whatever. Anyway, I'll keep it on for a 3D bow, but for hunting I just have to go with the tried and true Muzzy ZE. That's been on my other bow for two years shooting 3D and hunting. Never have had a problem with it. And the first sign of trouble with the Trapdooor and a ZE will replace that, too.
