I will agree that aluminums are striaghter but i don't think that carbons are that bad.
Try some as long as Arthur needs and see if you still agree with that statement...

I've also noticed that a bend or crook near the point has much less affect on arrow flight/impact than one at the nock. So I do the same thing with my wooden shafts. The straightest end gets the nock glued on or cut in.
