Bowtech Patriot a good first bow?
Assuming a price on a used one that's about 50% off new, would the Patriot be forgiving enough as a first bow?
33.75" ATA and 7.375" brace height are in the ballpark for a newbie, right? At least tell me I can grow into it!!

I would say that it would be ONE HECK of a first bow. Geez, I wish I had that as my first bow
The Pat has VFT so the bow will feel longer than it is (this will make the bow more stable for you and you will be able to hold it on the target much more easily) The bow has a good braceheight, plus it is recoil free and noise free. The bow is what most would call a top end bow, but I would see no problem with it being a first bow. Heck, if that is your first bow, you may never want to upgrade bow.

I agree!! The Patriot will allow you to shoot accurately right off the bat, they are high end bows and is one of the reasons they bring the price they are. If you can get any year Patriot for 1/2 price of new,,,,,, you're doing great[8D] Good luck with your new bow, you'll be in good company with the BowTech Patriot!!!

I am not as enthusiastic as the other two gents.
I think the Patriot is very well made and its heavier overall weight might make it more stable. But, I think it is a bit short for what I generally recommend to most beginning shooters. I would probably suggest the Pro 40 wheelie or Freedom cam provided price is not an issue and the person knows they are going to stick with it. Now there is a ultra forgiving, well made bow!

I think the Patriot would be a very good first bow. I sure wish they had bows that good when I got my first one. I feel the brace height, and long, stable riser will make it a good choice. Just don't get too high a draw weight and overbow yourself.

Dito on what straightarrow said , if your a 28" or less draw archer , I think it would be a nice first bow , much longer on draw than that and I think youd enjoy a longer axil to axil bow .

Thanks for all the feedback, guys.
Since I'm a shrimp (5'7"/160 lbs.) and my draw is somewhere between 26" and 27"--which is just a hair too short for the Pro 38/40s--I guess I'm in luck!
Best,
Jeff
PS: PABowhunter, money is DEFINITELY an object...unfortunately!
