280fps Best I can Do?
Don't get me wrong I not cry'in about it but My CyberTec is rated at 305fps. My draw length is 29" poundage is 70# arrows are goldtip 5575's @ 358gr. When I shot it through the chronograph I expected to see 290 at least what went wrong?
The only thing I can think is I am shooting 4" fletching for HC. Or does being 1" in short draw hold me back 25 fps? I not real worried about it the damn thing is fast and quiet. I was just curious to why im off the mark so far.

Do you have any of the following:
Peep sight with rubber tubing?
String-Puff yarn silencers?
Are your string silencers to close to the center of the string?
Do you have a metal loop?
Do you have any string loop?

Have you measured the actual draw length? Ensured the cam rotation was set properly? How much junk do you have on the string to low it down such as peep, kisser, loop, etc.? With a properly set up and tuned bow at those specs, I would assume no less than 285fps.
The 4" fletching will not make a difference at just a few feet in front of a chrono. Also have you checked the speed through a defferent chrono? Perhaps the chrono needs calibration?

Anything on the string slows it down. Brass nock sets are relatively heavy. To get the IBO specs, they have NOTHING on the string- maybe a tied in nock point. Maybe even a shorter version of the center serving. Maybe their 30" draw was cheating just a hair on the long side to get their stated speed number.
Look at your scale as well- tried another one to verify poundage? Most of the spring scales around vary by a pound or two.
Obviously your 29" draw will reduce the speed numbers for the 1" less of powerstroke.
Lots of variables that go into the mix for getting the printed speed. Most companies are getting better for printing ACTUAL speed numbers.

The string has a nock and a peep[no tube]. I have the versa cam and the settings say its a 29" draw . but I have not acutally measured it. I dont use a loop.

Hey Grndzer
I know for a fact that a shur-z-peep will take away 8fps and a single brass nock will take from 1-4 fps. And the 1" shorter draw length will rob another 10-15fps.
All of this added up could very well be your problem!

I would have thought it would be a little faster also, but you'll never get IBO speeds. I have a Cybertec set at 72 lbs. with a 28.5 in. draw. I have 2 string leeches, a Shurz-a-peep, and a brass nock on my string . I shoot a 403 gr. arrow at 282 fps.

Thats one thing i like about the bowtech bows, every bow on the shelf comes with a certificate stating what that bow shot at that draw length and that poundage. The speed is tested at 70lb with one brass knock, not machine fired with nothing on string.

hey grndzer-
I'm new here, I hope yah don't mind me posting. I wrote a program that calculates these things. How certain is the 29" ? My program says your bow should do 284.9 f/s @ 29". Lets say for a second you draw is 28.875" the speed drops to 282.9 and if your draw is 28.75" 281 f/s. As yuou can see a measly 1/4the inch can make a pretty significant difference in a bow!
I have an UltraTec set to 28.75" and I'm gettin 278 f/s. pretty similar.
Enjoy your CyberTec, Great bow!
Happy Shooting!
