I dearly love Hoyt bows, but out of the dozen or two I have owned and hundreds I sold I could never obtain a listed AMO, or IBO speed..at least at AMO draw lengths. My Defiant is the only real high performance Hoyt I have owned, and that's because I "hotrodded" it w/ a cam they did not offer anymore.

My HypertTec was a great shooter, but hardly the speed bow it was cracked up to be.

I do not remember if the 2002 ctalog is the same but many years Hoyt will have one listed speed and brace height for each model. This is always the fastest version w/ the lowest brace. For this year that would be a C2 model.

Ok, Update I have been able to get 286 FPS out of my CyberTec This is How and Why.

My versa Cam is set to Cam Position C and stop peg 3

If H = 30" then Cam Position C = 27 1/2 " Stop Pin 3 = 80% let off

But in my frustration I moved the stop pin from postion 3 to 4. My owners manual says that will lengthen my draw 3/16 of a inch. this is how I hit 286fps. I looked on there chart and position C and pin 4 is not there but it works and 6 fps faster even.

So the Final numbers are

Draw = 27.7" Weight = 71lbs Arrow = 358gr Speed= 286Fps.

Has anybody ever had a bow made by anyone other than Bowtech which would really do its stated IBO speed?

my martin would do 285 but its ibo was 325. but after everything i had to put on it to get it to quiet down to almost tolerable i know why it was slow.

Darton models will, as well as Merlin.

Old XI's, The Oregon BK, Early HCA models, and some of the really hard to draw old Martins woul(Maverick, Impala w/ XL cams). Mathews used to as well back in the early to mid 90's.

The CyberTec will do 300fps but it must be at 30" . You saying your BowTec Will still mantain speed at shorter draws?

I am assuming this is your true long length? Measured to the pivot point of the handle.
If so then the speed you're getting is exactly what "The Archery Program" predicted.

MQ1Shooter-
I would say that better than 90% of the published specs that manufactures publish are accurate. I believe that I am qualified to answer this based on my experience actually testing bows during the development of my software. When it comes to the Big Boys like Hoyt, PSE, Martin and Mathews I would say that their specs approach >95% accauracy. It seems like the smaller companies actually bring the average down a tad with fudged figures maybe hoping to sell a few more bows.
