I have a 2002 model Bowtech Patriot, just bought it last Novemeber,I' m shooting this bow for TARGET' s only, never hunted with it,I have a Bowtech PRO38 that I use for hunting. The problem I have is,the finish on the riser around the grip is wearing off, almost white in color now.Is anyone else having the same problem with any of there Bowtech bows?I have e-mailed Bowtech about this, they say they DO NOT warranty the finish? In my opinion that SUCKS!Like I said the bow is less then 5 months old and loks like CRAP! And looks like Bowtech isn' t going to do anything about it??[:@]

I have a 2002 BKII that I bought in September last year. The only complaint i have is the finish. Not good at all, I hunt with mine, shoot it every day and the finish is wearing bad down the sides of both limbs and around the limb pockets. It is getting shiny like you describe. I didn' t bother e mailing them, says right in the manual they don' t warranty the finish. I would imagine I am going to have to spray paint mine before next bow season. I love the bow but that is a pretty cheap and unprofessional job for a high end product.

My ' 02 Pat single' s finish is wearing around the grip but that' s all, probably because I can' t put it down
I' ve seen other bow' s finish wearing also and I think it' s just normal wear for that type of film dipped plastic. Hand lotion, sweat and bug repellent also can cause degrading of the finish and if your hands are as rough as mine, they are like sand paper. I' ve seen Mathews bows wear in the grip area also, I had two of them for a while. It' s only new for a while. I could be wrong but I think Color Works applies the camo for a number of bow companies and I thought I read where BowTech was working on obtaining their own dipping facility. Maybe new processes will be developed soon but I haven' t seen yet a deer or target that refused to hold still because my bow showed a little experience
. Love them BowTech' s!!!

Nobody in the industry I' m aware of warranties a film-dip finish. Too difficult to handle as there is no way any sort of consistent guidelines could be made to handle every problem or situation. If the bow was brand new and the dip was falling off, then I could see maybe someone replacing it, but not after several months of use, and normal wear from shooting it.
Like Russ said, so many things can wear the finish off..even excessive sweat. That' ' s why I really miss those old Hoyt anodized camo finishes. They are just too expensive and time consuming though for manufacturers to utilize in high volume.
I used to have a cheap customer who wouldn' t pay for scent eliminating sprays..he would buy isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) at the drug store and spray it on everything to kill smell . He sprayed it all over his PSE painted limbs and the paint wore clean off! You could see through the limb as it was " clear glass" .

Did all of the older bows have adonized finishes on them? I have a Golden Eagle bought in 96 with Advantage finish and it still looks as new as the day I got it. It seems like alot of the older bows I see have more durable finishes than the newer ones. These newer dipped finishes look a lot better out of the box but I would rather have one that lasts.

I have an older Martin with an anodized finish that will never come off, though it doesn' t look at good as the new finishes. My newer Martin has lost the film dip, on several spots, but I just touch it up with some " hobby enamal paints" . I blend my own camo colors and put it on to match the original pattern, the best I can. It has worked quite well and the touched up areas are very durable. Not a big deal in my eyes.

] Didn' t even consider the " paint" would wear off of my mighty mite. Guess I got used to the extreme durability of my OLD mathews z-lights finish. I think I got it in 1996 and have used it each year since as my primary hunting bow- and the finish still looks great, except in small places where I allowed it to get nicked.

I can' t say for sure but the target colored bows should be an anodized finish on the riser and maybe an epoxy paint on the limbs which would be more durable than the plastic film dip. You should see a friend of mine' s old Jennings T Star ? ithink it is. It' s just an original black finish of some sort but it' s almost all gone and there is a LOT of shiny aluminum showing. He kills deer and turkeys every year and has no desire to get a new bow.
