Default String life? Cable life?

How long can I expect to get out of a cable or string? I bought my Matthews MQ1 new 12/2000. Still has original on it.

All depends on how much you shoot it. Howmany shots are on the bow??? If you have shot it a bit id say it was time for a new set o' strings and a tune. I recommend VT. They will last a LONG time and they are relatively affordable.

All of my compounds get new strings and cables yearly, but that just me. I shoot them daily though.

It does depend on how much you shoot and how much abrasion they receive, but under No circumstances would I leave a set on longer than 2 years.

I've seen strings fail while a bow is just hanging on a rack. They are under a lot of pressure, and honestly I would not take the chance.

Let me tell ya, I took a chance on a PSE I had several years ago, and left a string on for 4 years. And it broke on me at full draw on the release. Not cool at all.

I've put a few thousand shots on some different strings, and I tink it's key that you take good care of them, but if you have the original strings on a 2000 bow, I'd say your past due for a change. Better to be safe than sorry!!!!
