Default String Life?

How long before I need to replace a string? How do I tell?

I am a pretty casual hunter. I probably shoot 2-3x a week for a half hour from august to october and maybe once a week for the oct-nov bow season. Maybe 2500 arrows a season.

I shoot a bear element 30" at #69. and I am shooting and ICS carbon hunter with a 125g field tip/steelhead 125.

If you wax your string regularly, it should last a couple thousand shots at least. If you don't wax it, it won't last as long andcould possibly break on you at any time.

I wax frequently.

As for the Bear Element I think its great but I am such a non techie when it comes to bows thatmy review istainted.

FirstI should say that I am a bowhunter and my only real goal is to put an arrow in a 3 circle at 25 yards or less with solid regularity.

My previous bow was a 1989 Browning Mirrage. I shot it at 80# 29 draw. The browning.. I thought was fast but it was loud and not very smooth. it seemed like keeping it tuned was a PIA.

The element to me seems smooth and fast. whats even better I tuned it up in July and it stayed in good tune till I hung it up in late october after my 3rd bow deer of the season. I bought it off ebay for $249 and many of the accesories came off my browning. I like it and it serves my needs well.

It really depends on how much you shoot, and how well you take care of it. You say you wax regularly, so that helps a lot. If you shoot, say, a couple hundred arrows a week, you may need to replace it every year. NORMALLY every 2 years is sufficient....
