Purshased an Sts for my Hoyt trykon My bow was pretty quiet but like all of us we must tinker. I chose the Sts mainly because of the side mount especially for the Hoyt Had my shop Who buy the way are incredible set up w/ serving etc . I shot seems it makes a distinct slapping noise which is louder than w/ out Sts. Anybody got the skinny on how to take the slap out of it. As it is string is resting firmly against stopper yet not overly tight is there a cetain distance that people have found rids the slap.thanks any and all for any advice!!!

Try adjusting it to where the string is about 1/16" from the STS. And if you have string leaches, remove the top leach. I have a Hoyt Katera and Hoyt stopped putting the leach on top because they were finding that by having the leach on top, it was causing some string noise when the string hit the STS. Good luck.

I would agree try moving the bar back and forth until you find the "sweet spot" I just installed one on my vectrix and it works very well with the string almost touching the bumper. you can slide a peice of paper between them, but thats about it.

Like the other posters,it sounds to me also that you need to adjust it very slightly forward. Different bows require different distances so to be exact you'll have to experiment a little. I would reccomend 1/16"-1/32" clearence to start with between the sts and string.

On another note, periodically you will have to adjust it as it "wears" as well.
