Fletching Glue...
#1
What is a solid, no hassle fletching glue... Right now I use Bohning Fletch Tite Platinum on blazer vanes attatching them to easton st epic carbon arrows. I prep the arrow by making sure it is clean and sometimes use alcohol. I cannot get a real good bond 100% of the time. Just now I peeled a fletching off with no problem...seems like the glue is dry and brittle...???? Am I doing something wrong or is this glue known for that????

I know a lot of people have had problems with Bohning Platinum. I've never used the stuff myself, so I don't know. All I use for vanes is any brand of gel cyanoacrylate - 'super glue.' The key with super glue gel is it's pressure sensitive and you have to apply about 10-15 seconds of pressure to the clamp against the arrow shaft.

There are lots of good options on glues for fletching. I have used Fletch tite Platinum for a long time and I'll guarantee you won't peel any of my vanes or feathers off
Sometimes they are a pain in the Arse when I want to clean them off

I use fletch tite platinum for vanes and and fletch tape for feathers. I have yet to lose a vane or feather, even on "pull throughs" throuhg the target or bale of straw or both
.
I think a key, regardless of the adhesive you use, is the proper prepping of the shaft and, in some cases, the vane. I always give the shaft a rub with a green pad and then clean/wipe with denatured alchohol before applying the fletching. Depending on the vane I will also clean the surface with denatured alchohol too.

I use Loc-Tite Super Glue gel. No problems over the past 1 1/2 years. I've been using it on carbon, aluminum, and cedar. Some with wraps, some with capping and cresting and some directly to the shaft. great bond, easy to work with and cheap at Lowe's.
