Default Arrow Weight

I am shooting a 70lb. bow with gold tip 5575 and an 85grain bhead. I read where I should be using 7595. Anyone know if I am likely hurting anything or my accuracy? I have been doing this for 6 years now and i JUST GOT THE new drenalin.

Thanks

You're right on the line, depending on the length of your arrow. The 6075 are spined .400, the 7595 are spined .340......The 340 would most likely be better.....

Yes. If you are underspined, accuracy will suffer tremendously. As long as they are heavy enough, you wouldn't be doing any damage to the bow however.

Along with the draw weight of the bow, the arrow length and tip weight all factor into whether an arrow is spined correctly. Lighter heads and shorter arrows tend to make an arrow "stiffer"; whereas longer arrows and heavier heads make an arrow "softer".

For instance, I got some CE Terminators on sale this summer. They are 60/75's and I shoot a 61 lb. draw weight. But because the arrows are 31" long (I didn't cut them) and I'm using 125 gr. broadheads, they spine out just fine. I also can use the 500 series Easton Axis - if I cut them to 27.5" (arrow rest is at the back of the riser)and use 75 grain heads. But my mainstream arrow is the 400 series Axis.

First, your broadhead is very light. This gives you a very low FOC, which makes a hunting arrow less forgiving with lower penetration. Everything depends on your draw length and arrow length, but the 7595 is usually a big advantage over the 5575 with most 70 lb setups. You can fine tune tip weight and arrow length to get spine exact. For instance, by adding weight to the insert and keeping my arrow a little longer, I'm able to use a .300 spine arrow on my 60 lb compound. I ended up with an incredibly forgiving arrow.
