Default Pendulum sight

I just got an old pendulum sight for my bow. I was told to sight it in at 20 yards on the ground, and it would be ready for the tree stand. Is that so or not? I had a bow hunter tell me that it wouldn't work.

If its a savage, it will work. I have a Savage feather max on my legacy and I sighted it in at 20 from the ground...then shot from 30 to see what would happen and it hit about a inch low. Make sure the pin pivots freely though. I did miss the first one this season cause my pin stuck. Theres a small set screw on the side of the pendulum that allows you to loosen the movement. I did that and it worked fine.

They work best from a tree to relatively level ground. If you are shooting uphill or severly downhill, they may be off due to the geometry involved. Stay within 10-20 feet up in a tree with shots to semi-level ground and you'll be fine. But don't forget, when aiming, you still have to bend from the waist. Good Luck.
