Weatherby,
I can only guess, but I would say that probably the Pro40 dual will be the top "NEW" choice as a 3D bow. It has a nice almost 7.4" brace height, at least a 38" ATA and the ability to give you basically any speed you wish to shoot.......the short armed guys will have no problem getting that 280+ range even at low draw weights. That's what I'm looking forward to.........drawing mid 50# draw weight and getting any speed I feel like shooting. I am picturing a BETTER version of my beloved Pro38 dual which drives tacks for me, and the new Pro40 DC has almost an inch more in the brace height department.

The 3D shooters or the hunters who prefer the longer 38ATA range really have a sweet selection of bows for 2003. Aside from the Pro40 DC, the Pro38 and Pro40 single cams, as well as the Gen 3.2 along with the new Pro40 "Wheely" bow would all make a fine choice for 3D or a dual purpose hunting/3D bow. Even the tall BKII wouldn't be a bad choice.....and with 60# limbs in the Dual cams you'd have a bow that will be smooth and accurate on the 3D course with draw weights in the mid 50# range.......or crank it up to 60# come hunting season and you'd STILL have a hunting bow hitting harder than most bows on the market! Think about that one.

Its nice to know that you have to think about how you can SLOW these bows down rather than worry if you will get ENOUGH speed. Gives you a much wider range of arrow and weight choices than simply the lightest arrow you can find to get the speed you want.
Speed isn't everything, but an overabundance of it gives you many more options and is much more versatile in set-up vs a bow with a lower speed rating. Especially when you are thinking about just one bow that must do double duty as a 3D/Hunting bow.

JeffB, you NEED that Pro 40 DC to compare to the Patriot DC, you know you do<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle>.

I was worried for bit, I jusy bought the tall 02 BK II. Not to many changes. But the new Pat might have made it a closer race. My BK II @ 30&quot; 71lbs is a screamer.

Jeff, I suspect you'll end up with both of the second choices. Wouldn't 3 bows be an all time low?<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> The P40 wheel bow sounds interesting, too.

I wish I had Jeff or Matt's money...then I could buy 3 or 4 bows at the same time! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yup..exactly what I've been trying to say since I started shooting Bowtechs..you just did a much better job of it <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

I was thinking last night, that with my normal string set-up and with the 28&quot; modules I'll probably be in the 310 to 315 or so range at 5 grains. But for hunting I will slow her down.In my area I just don't have the need for the extra flat trajectory, so I'll be shooting closer to 6 to 6.5 grains per LB which will still put me in the 280to 290 ballpark...YIKES! If the new grip is a nice as I'm hoping, I might even be able to shoot the 29&quot; modules....<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> Scary.

and yup..the P40 DC is a contender, but I think I'd rather have the wheel bow just because it's different. That Extreme-VFT was calling to me in my dreams last night though! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

round and round she goes...where she stops....

Which bow from bowtech in 2003 will best suited for 3d shooting? Aslo bts, please explain the new black color.

weatherby460, The new Colored riser will be kind of like a black/silver marble finish. It will have clear/chrome eccentrics, sparkle black limbs as before and it will have the same variegated limb pockets....The sample I saw looked verrry sharp.

I too am looking at the Pro 40 Dual for my 3-D rig this year. It will have more than enough speed for me and also be plenty forgiving for me (I need it). I think I'm gonna have a harder time choosing a new hunting rig...Unless I decide to just keep my 2000 Mighty Mite to hunt with?...

I wish I had Matt's money too, as Jeff's money is not enough these days! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Seriously..There won't be many reports out of me this coming year. My boy (hunter) is getting older and more expensive, and he's alot more important than any bow.

BUT...he's getting ready to turn 3 (6 days as a matter of fact) and already is all into my archery stuff...I let him &quot;shoot&quot; my bows now (I ut the release on his wrist, attach it to the string and let him pull the trigger..he squeals all over the house in delight when I let him shoot)when he's a few years older, Him and I will be able to gang up on his mom about Archery purchases we DESPERATELY NEED! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

It looks like an amazing line up when you put then all togther and priced out. I see Hoyt has their new web site up and they show 11 bows and not a single cam in sight! BowTech shows 16 different bows in their line up, man do we have choices or not! I want to see a picture of that Patriot DC before I order but it looks like the LadyHawk will be ordered for sure<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
