Rodsmith, the Tempest is a cast riser, short brace bow. I have a Merlin Shadow (machined riser with more brace) for sale on ebay. E-mail me for the item # if interested. I don't think I'm allowed to post it here. Pinwheel 12 is the man to tell you about the Merlins. He told me the Shadow is more forgiving.

Phil.

Found you, Rod! For some reason I cannot get thru to you via e-mail.

Anyway, the Merlin Tempests are (were) Merlins' attempt at an "economy" bow. They are cast riser, glass limb, plastic grip, lesser materials. If you buy one, buy two,(they're cheap enough!) because that way you'll have one for parts as they all have been discontinued. The Tempest Solo was discontinued in 1999, and all Tempests, Shadows, and original Storms sold on e-bay or other liquidations are from a big order shipped here in late 1998 to my knowledge. Parts are scarce, modules can be found, I have a few here, e-mail for availability.

The Shadow and original Storms are machined risers, and probably a better buy if you can get them "priced right". Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

Pinwheel
Thanks for the info. What price range can I expect to see in the current Merlin line of single cam hunting bows.

Can't give prices out publically on the boards, this is a no-no and poor posting practice. E-mail anytime for further info. Good shooting, Pinwheel 12

I checked out your bow, Phil. It looks very nice. You didn't shoot it very much. Was it not that nice, or does your Patriot have you spoiled?

If I didn't already have a project bow in the works for after hunting season, I'd probably get it just out of curiosity.

Avoid the inevitable until it is absolutely unavoidable!
