bogobble you must listen to AG&F trained game wardens or thier biologists?
I have seen bucks with antlers the 1st of march. the yearling does will be bred in jan and feb .
and besides muzzleloaders still have two days and gun season is open for three days after xmas. so why the bowhunter in the post?
maybe" ar deer hunters " would have been better?
my "archery" equipment will come out after the three day GUN hunt!

besides for meat, what do you gun hunters accomplish by killin a deer, even a nice buck? anybody can take a high powered rifle and kill a deer at 100-200-even 300 yds, but when you take one with a bow, then you got braggin rights.
just kiddin gun hunters, I know ya'll enjoy your huntin just like us bowhunters. but I gaurrentee ya, it ain't near as challenging or as exciting.

Bogobble, I know what you are saying. To me, getting the deer in close is the biggest challenge of all in hunting. You hear guys say " I killed this deer a 387 yds." That's fine, but I like 'em close. It's more exciting that way. I hunt with a rifle considerably more than with a bow and nearly every deer that I have taken has been within 50 yds. Most of them more like 25-30 yds. That is the exciting part, wheter with a gun or a bow in my opinion.

Wait just a minute bogobble. now i was out on a stand all afternoon will be this weekend and probably the next. heck thats what i have been doing since oct.
no wait i was out there in late summer no...... all summer . well just put it like this i am out there all year . heck i live in the boonies!
And i don't get this attitude that gun hunters or muzzleloader shoot every deer they see. as i am sure you have read on other forums i have a bow and crossbow and enjoy them. yeah it's great to have deer close...............why heck i had one i could have spit on this afternoon OH GEEZ and i had a muzzle loader!
Hey how many bowhunters can say they have deer come within 5' while making a human scrape?
yep this season while watering the grass i had a doe come trotting through the tall weeds around my stand. and yep i cut it off in mid stream cause it spooked me!
What did i get out my muzzleloading after noon? a good time enjoying a few deer eating in my plots and corn feeders. no shots fired. heck i have only pulled the trigger on one this year out of the hundreds i have seen. why? he was the nicest buck i had seen.
some of us all around hunters just like the hunt!
Some may loose antlers early but i have seen them around march 1st.
but i am positive the good ones are still carrying soem headgear. if not i will probably put one of my corn fed does in the freezer.
cause i also like eating them!

the true bowhunter don't hunt over a corn feeder, he does his homework, and hunts the deer on their on turf. it's called fair chase.
good luck the rest of the season southark, hope you get another nice one.

I believe that a corn feeder in the middle of the woods would be considered a deer's "turf". Also, I do not put feeders out simply to have a good ambush spot, I want to give the deer at least a little something to eat when the winter turns bad. Two years ago, we had a major ice storm and the ice covered the ground completely, no doubt killing numerous deer and other animals for that matter. So, as I always say, if my supplemental feeding helps just one deer make it through the winter, then it was worth every dime. We have to also take care of the critters that we hunt, or they may not be here long.

you kill me bogobble!
That is very true. i also think that you have to care about deer. i spend alot of (boy do i hear it from wife) time in the woods . whether hunting or just whatever heck i have some deer named. one that i named we are eating this season![
] she was called nosey bit**. my son shot her back at thanksgiving. she always busted me out when i was in the stand . she was amazed by my stand. so now i see her orphans eating at the corn feeder.
and you know i think one of them is taking after momma.
as we gun hunters should say get your rifle and get one for the skillet this holiday season.

southark, naming your deer? I'm afraid if I done that, I'd get to attached to them and couldn't shoot em
