$20 on gas, are you driving a moped? I think it takes more than $20 to fill my ATV now

Just got an email from VDGIF concerning naming the stake holder advisory committee IRT the hound hunting survey. There are 3 deer dog runners,2 fox dog hunters, 1 bear, 1 rabbit hunter, 3 land owners, 2 LEO's, and just 2 non-dog hunters. Seems a little biased toward the deer dog runners if you ask me. I am curious as to why they didn't give equal voice to all parties. I guess that I need to contact them and ask why it seems they tipped the scales in favor of the deer doggers.

I noticed the samething. You realize the LEO's will reframe from voting, they can only advise on mattersbut no way can they voteto support or not to support an issue. That would represent the whole VDIF, no way can they take a side. Wonder if the land owners just happen to be dog hunters also? Are they land owners who have had issues with hounds or possibly land owners who lease to deer hound hunters? VDGIF will have a full mail box in the am.

Those are some outstanding questions. I had thought of some of them, however it was after I had already sent an email to VDGIF, so I guess that I will have to send another, follow up question.

To say that it is impossible to hunt SE VA without dogs is a lie.
But that would require a hunter to exit their truck, and step off the hard surface road.

Population sample. I'd suspect that more hunters chase deer with dogs than any other species. Just a shot in the dark..... I'd suspect in the greater scheme of the state more hunters hunt without hounds... considering that its verboten in half the state.

This is exactly my point. There should be at least as many non-dog hunters as deer dog hunters. In truth, there should be equal amounts from all groups.

Deep,

Just finished a lengthy one to Mr Busch, Director Duncan and CC to all the board members. Just because they are listed as something other than "Deer Hound hunters" does not mean they are not hound hunters. The landowners, wonder if they are from deer houndcounties or from west of the Blue Ridge? Don't forget the Farm Bureau, weren't they buddes with VDHA or VHDA over the Sunday hunting matter?

Regarding the names on the advisory committee...............

Well it looks like they did pick typical dog chasers. I personally know one of these guys. He's the one that shot the dog because it wouldn't run, trained out of season and ran on lands they did not have a lease or rights to run on. Calls and letters are about to go out as soon as I can verify he's the one. Pretty sure it is because he said he was asked to do something with this some time ago. Now if the rest of the picks are of that calibur how can they advise anything?
