Alabama Baiting
#11
I have about a100 acre corn field on the north side of my land, the guyputs bag corn out in the rows to take pictures of the deer. On the east side a guy got caught in the spring baiting turkey. I know he feedsthe deer too, I have heard his feeder go off. I have 34,000 acres in Florida, theres not as many deer downherethe corn is an easy way to put kids on deer. They love getting to see them.I don't have a problem killing big bucks with all the corn around me in Alabama though, I see good ones in are food plots all the time.

I'd really encourage everyone to write to your State Rep. and Senator to get baiting legalized. When I lived in Auburn, Ted Little told me he had not heard from enough people to change his anti-baiting stance. The bill has been introduced in the house for the last three years, but dies in committee meetings. They cannot afford to enforce the law, so change it. I hate to watch my deer heading toward the property line to eat bait, but that's what happens every year!
After you write your Representative, tell your preacher to preach on obeying thelaws of the landand include the game laws. Nothing wrong with preaching the truth! Romans 13!!!!

Good point on the preaching Trae. I'll see about getting that one put in for a up coming Sunday morn!
From the people I have talked to, and including myself, most people don't want to use bait. But they are tired of fighting with their neighbors who do.Alabama's problem is they don't have enough law enforcment to enforce the law. So why not go ahead and make the game even for everyone? I hate it but that is where we are heading. I personally can't believe that Dan Moultrie hasn't pushed it through already. In that 1st year of people buying feeders for their plots he could retire 3 times on the profits.
BTW since you lived in AU I'm assuming you are a Tiger! WAR EAGLE!!!! Class of 99.

The same goes for louisiana, I go walking though the woods on my neighbors property, I have permission, and see some stand that other hunters have setup, and there is no effort, it's a stand in a little open space, 75 yards from there house, with 200lbs of corn on the ground. So I scout, and look for deer sign and trails, and everthing is leading to that corn pile or the other corn piles i see. I ticks me off, but i just take my climber and set up on the deer trails, and cut the deer off, I usually catch the deer holding up about 2-300 yards off the corn pile in the woods, I let a doe and two yerling walk past me this year early in the season, at about 4 : 30 pm, I heard a shot at 5:30, sure enough one of the guys shot that doe right in his corn pile, I reported it, and reported the pile of corn, nothing was done about it. After I reported it, my game camera got stolen. Nothing was done about that either. How are you supose to fight that. There are just not enought game wardens, and they don't act unless it's a very serious offense.
