Was at the range this morning and a fellow was telling that he had found out that you could deer hunt in NC on martin luther king holiday????//
Anyone else heard this?I asked if he had called the wildlife and found out,he said not yet but was going to when he got home.

To my knowledge all deer hunting ended on Jan. 1. I have never heard of any deer hunting after that, on private or public or any other type of land. I am friends with a few wildlife officers and they have never mentioned this. I don't think it's true.????

I too didn't believe this but the fellow was dead serious,he had missed a deer during the reg season and brought another rifle to zero just for the hunt.
I have hunted in NC since the 40's and I have allways heard that they have a law or something that you cannot kill deer after Jan 1st unless the last day ends on sunday, then the 2nd would be the last.
Some years ago fellows that ran a gun shop said they found out that the wildlife had extended the season in their county for another week, and they said they hunted that week (this was afterwards so I really don't know if they actually hunted or not )but it was not in the game regs.I asked a game warden about it and he said if it wasn't in the game regs it wasn't true.
I won't be hunting that day, already took all the deer I wanted in the reg season, but still curious if it is true or not.All ready ran this past the s--- house lawyers at the bait shop and it was the first time any of them had heard this also.
