.223 or .22-250 for yotes??
I am looking to purchase a new rifle for yotes. I would like too get some opions on which caliber would be better for yotes. My shooting range will be anywhere from 20 yards to 200 yards. Also, does anybody shoot Wolf ammo for yote hunting. If so, what size bullet ,and are they a consistant round, meaning do they work well with your weapon and hold tight groups. Also, any info on gun brand names will also help. THANKS.....

RE: .223 or .22-250 for yotes??
IMO the 223 is my choice.Ammo is cheap and it is good well past 300 yds.
I shoot Wolf FMJ stuff out of my AR-15 ,it shoots good but I don't know how their HP ammo expands. Where I live there is too many houses to be shooting fmj at yotes.
If you go with a 233 ,I would try Federal American Eagle AE223G .It shoots great and it's cheap.

RE: .223 or .22-250 for yotes??
I have shot coyotes with both the .223 and the .22/250 and of the two I prefer to shoot them using a .243
I use the 55 grain Ballistic tips flying just over 4000 fps with quite devastating effect. The 243 is a very versatile caliber and can be used for many purposes. The recoil is minimal when using a varmint weight rifle and you can watch bullet impact through the scope. The accuracy I am getting out of my Remington and factory loads is a one ragged hole group at 100 yards and this is as much as one can ask for, IMO.

I shoot the 22-250, BUT would choose the .223 because I feel I am over gunned since I almost always get pass throughs. Which ammo you will end up using will depend on the rifle. I have heard good things about the Wolf ammo., but until you get your rifle and shoot it, you just won't know what it likes. I am looking into the new .204 for my next calling rifle.

223 is nice and cheep to shoot.I hunt with a smith and wesion 1500 it gives me very good goups with wolf.I would go bolt action or single shot.
You mite look in to a 223/12gage that is my mane calling guy very good for night calling.

I have both and would say the .22-250 because of its ability to reach out and touch. the .223 is a great gun, cheap to shoot, and kills coyotes cleanly. but i just like the .22-250 because i know every time its gonna put the dog down from 10 to 300 yards. I shoot Federal American Eagle 50 grain flat base hollow points in my .223, they shoot good and are only like $6 a box. im gonna try and pick up a can of FMJ's for plinking around the house. I shoot Winchester 55 grain soft points in the .22-250. with the 4.5-14X scope and Harris bipod, 24" bull barrel, that baby shooots like a dream. my pick:.22-250.
The .223 is just a basic Ruger M77 Mk.II .223 w/ a Leupold rifleman 3-9X. I was seriously looking into a Ruger Ranch Rifle but its lack of accuracy wasn't real good with me. Then i looked at an AR-15 style rifle. I didn't like the price. Got the Ruger at auction new in box for about wholesale price.
the .22-250 is a Remington 700 BDL Varmint w/ 24" bull barrel, leupold vari x III 4.5-14X40mm w/ harris bipod. If i were to go and deck out a new .22-250 right now, i'd go witha Remington 700 Walking Varmint. 7 1/4 lbs, flat forend, great bolt action for coyotes. Ruger #1 with a heavy barrel would be a second choice. I dont care much for Winchester or Browning. Savage is a good cheap option.
