as drgildy said "a large rat trap will work fine.we do that in our fruit trees.
just be sure you nail it down to something that a cat can't drag off.
(nail or screw to the tree limbs.)

connibear 110- pop 2 holes in a plastic milk carton top, stick the trigger wire threw holes, add peanutbutter, no more squirrels. But remember there will always be one to take the place of the one you eradicated, you can only decrease their population till the next breeding season.[:@]

Shooter, are the tree huggers the only reason you can't shoot them, or are there actually laws prohibiting it? Because if it's only the tree huggers, it doesn't make sense that you want a trap that will kill the squirrels; the tree huggers will be upset anyways 'cause the squirrel is dead. If shooting them isn't against the law, I'd have to advise you to forget about the tree huggers, shoot the squirrels cause they're yummy, and if the tree huggers holler just politely inform them to stay out from in front of the barrel.
