Use a dirt mound set with a no 2 or 3 jump trap. and a little lure or urine on a post. with the trap positioned on the top of the mound, sift and cover trap and be carefull not to leave any scent. wear rubber gloves. A good magazine to subscribe to is Fur-Fish-Game, (614)-231-9585 for subscriptions
Stake trap well or use a drag can be used for all three species. Tying a chicken wing (feathers) on a branch and let swing will attract them from afar.

I use a dirthole set for most of my fox/coyote sets. Dig a small hole 3-4" in dia, 7-8" deep, at a 45 deg angle. Put bait/lure in bottem of hole, and bed trap 6-8" back from mouth of hole. I prefer a #1 3/4 or #2 coilspring. Check your state reg's befor using sight expossed bait, it is a no no here in WI. Fur-fish-game is a good mag to read.

I would recommend that you buy two books, The Dirt Hole set and its Variations and The Flat set and its Variations both by Charles Dobbins. These are invaluable to the beginning K-9 trapper, IMO. He takes you through everything from equipment, to sets to location. I would recommend you start out with a bigger trap, a # 3 or the MB-650 is my personal preferance. The 1 1/2 and the 2 will work very well but have a smaller pan than the bigger trap. Correct placement is much more critical with the smaller trap. It is very hard to describe on here how to set for K-9's, the most important part is to get the trap bedded so there is absolutely no movement of the trap when you push down on any portion of it. The above mentioned books will be of far more help than I will. There are also videos available if you would rather not read the book. Good luck.
