Who are the "Mountain Lion Foundation"?
Pulled this from my local press - Who are these people? And why do they think Mountain Lions need extra protection?

Mountain Lion Season Will Start As Planned
The state Game, Fish and Parks Commission has refused to delay the start of South Dakota's first hunting season on mountain lions.
Two South Dakotans and a California group had sought the delay. In a brief telephone meeting, the commission decided the season should start as scheduled on October first.
However, the fight over the hunting season is not finished. The Mountain Lion Foundation, based in Sacramento, California, has filed another petition asking the commission to repeal the rule that established the mountain lion season.
The commission will consider the request for repealing the season at its next regular meeting on October sixth and seventh, about a week after the season has started. The Mountain Lion Foundation also has indicated it might go to court in an effort to stop the hunting of mountain lions in South Dakota.
The commission approved the season to reduce the growing number of mountain lions, lessen the threat of attacks on people, curb livestock losses and give residents a chance to hunt lions.
The season will allow lion hunting from October first through December 15th in the Black Hills. Up to 25 lions may be shot in the Black Hills, but the season would end if five breeding-age females are taken.
Game, Fish and Parks officials say the season is based on sound research that indicates mountain lions can be hunted while maintaining a sufficient population in the Black Hills.
