I am not sure if there is a way to backtrack to find out what species of critter it came from, but if I remember correctly, the worst tasting meet could reliably be found in my school cafeteria....

I believe Elk are considered exotics here in Texas (non-native). If that is so, there should be no closed season, no bag limit. Unless, of course, you weren't sure exactly who's land you were on....

Mossberg Maverick 88, and Winchester 9422 with iron sights. I want to get more into Black Powder squirrel hunting. I just have to figure out a way to make some extra money to pay for the gun(s).

I haven't used black powder for squirrel since the '60's. Somehow it adds to the experience. Squirrel in gravy is sooo good!! As is squirrel stew, and my dad's favorite, squirrel spaghetti sauce....
