worst tasting meat
#41
I have some fisherman friends that took me turtleing (snappers)well to see that ugly, dirty nasty thing on the deck of a boat and then to think I am going to eat it was out of the question. They cooked them and raved about how good they are and when I was forced to eat a piece I said I had to go and drove down the road and tossed it out the window. It may have been good but looking at it..... No Way was I eating it. So my vote goes with what is the ugliest.... Turtles

Well, I suppose I've eaten most of what was mentioned above. Didn't love them all, but didn't mind them either. If you consider salamander a meat, then that was the one thing I'll not eat again without I'm starving. If you don't count that, I guess the worst one would have to be raccoon. Although I would eat one again, but it's not very good.
You have to remember that the same animals meat will taste different depending on it's diet. Some of you might have a different opinion about duck if you had a farm raised one. Same with aligator and snakes. They taste much different depending on where they came from, or if they were farm raised or not. Well, at least that's what I've heard about gator. I've only had it once. Snakes, I've had plenty of and they range wildly in taste.

I've skinned a coyote and I can tell you that of all the animals I have skinned, hog, deer, alligator, anything, this was the toughest. I don't know if it was just the one I did, but it was amazingly greasy. The hide is very tough, and it was COVERED in ticks, I would be weary of eating one of them. They are leggy animals that don't have an amazing amount of meat on them, but what is there is pretty lean, and I would imagine tough as leather.

I am not sure if there is a way to backtrack to find out what species of critter it came from, but if I remember correctly, the worst tasting meet could reliably be found in my school cafeteria. (joking)
