So for the first time ever I missed a tom. The most disappointing opening day of turkey hunting I have ever had.

Nothing last night on the roost, nothing this morning either. So me, my younger...

RE: what locator call do you use?

I most often use the owl hooter, but also use and carry a crow call, goose call, and a coyote howler. And the local rooster helps early in the AM as well.

RE: whats your favorite decoy(s)?

Gotta say that my favorite decoy is an old hard plastic hen that has to be about 20 years old or so, yet still looks great! Its a pain in the ass to carry around, but it is so much better then the...

RE: Which gun for coyote

There used to be ammo for the .308 called the Accelerator, I think it was made by remington. Basicly it was a round designed for varmit/predator hunting. It was a 55 grain or so bullet, and it had a...

RE: What gun do you use and why?

Remington 870 express 12 ga using standard full choke. Nothing fancy, no camo, no nothing, just a bird killing gun!

I also have a Savage 24F which would be a really nice turkey gun if you could...

RE: Squirrel hunting?

If your dead set on using the 870 12 Ga (which I have also shot a few bushy tails with) you need to get your hands on an Improved Cylinder choke or maybe one of the skeet chokes. Hurley is correct...

RE: Cabelas Wool Suits ???

I own the Columbia wool jacket and pants combo. It is warm if you layer properly, and Dan is correct that it does catch a lot of briars and such. My biggest problem with the columbia is that there is...

RE: Cold Weather Clothing

I would look for wools that had a wind proof lining rather then looking for thermals that will block the wind. Cabelas Outfitter wool has two options in the wind sheer lining and the dry plus lining...

RE: Cold Weather Clothing

I also have the Columbia wool jacket and pants combo and while it is warm if you throw some thermals under it, it does have one big problem with stopping the wind. In my expereinces the wind cuts...
