I had a guy tell me he uses Mag Primers with his .308 loads. He said it made a big difference in his accuracy. Does anyone do this? Does it really matter one way or the other?

I tried it with my 165gr Sierra load, and it turned out bad. I was getting fliers. My groups with 210 primer is 1.1" or so, but opened up to 2" or more with CCI 250 primers. Did it cause I ran out of primers one night. I tried it with 44gr, 45gr, and 46gr of Varget. All had fliers.

The only time you might need to use mag primers in .308 is when using loads with ball powders like Win 748 or Hodgdon BL-C(2). I have found that I get slightly better accuracy when using mag primers with those two powders. But Standard primers are all you need for extruded powders like Varget, 4895, 4064, RL-15, etc.

I use mag primers in cases the size of .243 and larger when using ball powders and in one instance in a 6MM Remington actually increased my accuracy a bit. It's worth a try.....but it's not likely to be a panacea of good tidings....it's not likely to reduce 3" groups to under 1" or anything like that.....but try it if you wish.
