Stubblejumber, the factory ammo that your talking about is their premium lines of ammo, and there may well be not a thing wrong with them for the price I would still buy Hornady Custom or Light Magnum. Another point, why would they need to load another companies bullets for their premium ammo, IMO their saying their standard bullets are not of equal quality.
Herman, yes the 140 gr 6.5mm corlokts do have two crimp rings on them. While many may have had satisfactory results with Remington's factory ammo, the point of reloading is to develop the custom round for the specific gun/shooter/condition. Factory ammo will never match that. Point 2, if the jacket will separate on paper and cardboard less than a 1/4" thick, the hide of an animal is definitely harder to penetrate.

Thndrchiken, I have used the 140 core lokt in my 6.5x55 for years and have to say with perfect satisfaction. Good (complete) penetration from any reasonable angle and really good accuracy. I am only pushing it to 2500 fps since it is my iron sight rifle and won't be used past 150 yards. Have you considered the possibility you have a rough barrel? Does your bullet have a lot of travel before hitting the rifling?

rickt, the gun is a Husqvarna commercial with a milsurp barrel factory cut to 26" so there is a good jump to the lands. I have put Sierra's and Hornady bullets through it without any of the jackets separating. I will be taking the same loads to the range for use with one of my CG Swedish mausers this weekend, see what happens and I'll post the results. Maybe it was just a bad run?

Last year I shot a medium size feral hog (175 pounds) angling to my left just behind the shoulder and the bullet exited out the stomach and stopped in the pigs knee. The bullet was not picture perfect but most of it was there and the jacket did not seperate from the core. Range was 35 yards. I bought 500 of them bulk and they are almost gone, I just may change to Hornady's as I also had very good results with the 140 grain spire points for several years.

Not hardly, this problem posted by thundrchicken is pretty unique. I have shot 140 corelokts in my 700 7mm-08 without any problems. Not to mention corelokts in many other calibers 30-30, .243,.270, 30-06 and never have had separation or lost a deer.
