Slokie I got the same phone call from Donat and turned down the 23rd date because most of the guys in the party can't change their work vacation they scheduled. I asked about snowmobiles and was told the ice is not good on the lakes and their is only 5 inches of snow. ATV's are of no use because of the snow and the terrain. If you are talking with Perrywinkle tell him I am looking forward to his hunt report. I was looking forward to having a beer with ya, but I might catch ya before you leave. I think the caribou will be seen from the LA-1 road across the LA-1 dam and Northward. Also they might be going through along the power line which I believe is accessible from the Trans Taiga road near Mirage. If I see you I'll be talking to you up there. If we don't connect I hope you and your crew have a safe trip and a good hunt. Keep in touch.

I am happy to hear the caribou are there, my son and I are heading up tonight for the 19th at Mirage.
Son called Mirage yesterday and they said they were getting caribou!
Can't wait, I am leaving in 1/2 hour to pickup my son.
Good luck to everyone

I just talked to Mirage's pr guy he's not at lodge but said that hunters were getting animals about an hour drive from lodge. He said he didn't know specifically where. Sounds about like up the LA1 road. Lakes not frozen and about 3" of snow. He said to disregard the sat maps. But that's what he's supposed to say.

Talked to friend who guides for Mirage. Some animals have crossed the Trans road west of Mirage in the resident zone. Plenty of animals north. The satellite images are all screwed up, only showing a few caollars. Ice isn't safe and about three inches of snow. Supposed to get cold and snow next week. That will push animals down. They will cross lakes when ice is safe. Hunt safe, get big bulls if you can but remember, when push comes to shove there's a lot more meat on a baldy bull than on a cow. Will be at Mirage Nov. 30.

Hey guys! Chomping at the bit to get up there and start hunting. Can't wait to hear from any of you who have returned from your hunt with Mirage or Asselin. Can anyone tell me if snowmobiles will be of any use or if we will need them at all? I spoke to the woman at Asselin's and she said that there is about 5 inches of snow and cwcjr119 also said in one of his posts that he was told by his friend a Mirage guide that snow depth is minimal. I asked about ATV's and she said that they are no good up there because of the terrain. When I was up there in 2007 the terrain was not too bad, but I imagine it would be the mud and water if nothing is frozen up yet. Also I think they don't want ATV's tearing up the taiga because it takes a long time for the vegetation to grow again because of the short summers. Is anyone taking their bou's by snowmobile or are you better to go up the LA-1 road past the dam to look for them? If there is better success up the LA-1 road at what mileage are they crossing at the most? One of you guys was talking about a pinch point where the bou's cross on the LA-1 road.

Just got home ...First day ice on lakes but no bou on them, second would see few on ice by the last day(19th) all where using lakes along with brave hunters!! We killed all our bous around 22 to 25 mile marker on east side of road going to lg-1! Snow was alwful deep to shoot one too far off road(100yards long ways) We got our limit but we worked for them! Did see a few good bulls all in distance on ice..Temps 20 to 10 degrees Far. Seen caribous as far south as 381 on way out! Wish you all the best but they went threw 3 weeks ago but still some coming threw!???(Slowly)We hunted by sitting in one place but everybody else drove roads and shot them as they crossed the road(We didnt?)
