Canadian Whitetails

I've never brought a book or anything with me as I have to be Johhny on the spot with the place I hunt. It does get long sometimes but I just keep reminding myself a brute could come out any second. I'll usually break it up as well, sit for 3-4 hrs in the am with rattling when I get tired or bored, then do pushes or pheasant in the afternoon (lunch), then back in the stand for prime time. I guess thats why I respect guy's who can pass on the smaller bucks and wait for the big boy. I'm rtying to be one of those hunters now, but I'm usually going home empty handed
. Ah well, I know good things come to those who wait. That's how I'll keep hunting and hopefully you guy's will read all about my story in Big Buck Magazine
Good luck this weekend all!

Just got in from Lake of The Woods, Ont. Seen several deer and one very nice buck that didn't offer me a shot. I did take a smaller 8-point but that was no comparision to the 12-point my dad took on the 2nd day of the hunt! The local taxidermist said he was a 165-170 class buck! He weighed in right at 315.lbs! Here are a few pics! Enjoy!
(Date was not set right on my camera it was actually 10-31-05)

great buck
Even as a canadian I didnt know people traveled to Ont for deer hunting. Alberta, Sask and Manitoba of coarse, but what do you know that I don't.
Congrats to you and your Dad.

Yeah that was really neat Skeeter. The Conservation Officer said it was where he had worms during velvet.
tangozulu we were hunting on crown land in Lake of the Woods, supposedly the only place you don't have to have a guide in Canada been going there for about 5 years now.

Buckstopper...NICE DEER!!! He's definately a nce buck to be proud of.
Skeeter, that's usually what I end up doing, if the buck makes me tingle I shoot, no second guessing. I did pass up a decent 4x4 mulie this sat since he just wasn't what I was after and I have no regrets. We shot a doe for my cousins freezer but didn't see 1 whitetail. Heard about 100 shots so I know there are (were) deer out there. Any luck for you skeeter?

Well our South Texas season opened here without much hoopla Saturday. I took a youth from my church and though we saw 9 diiferent bucks I did not let him pull the trigger. He is somewhat of a greenie, he told me he had never even seen a buck on the trips he has made before with friends. I was trying to teach him patience and the "let em grow routine" We did have a good time being out in the wild and I have about 45 minutes of video which I know in 15 years he will cherish. Now on with the show, I have seen that some parts of Saskatchewan are getting some flurries which is a good sign. I leave for Edmonton early Saturday morning and will make the drive to Peirceland Sunday. I have both my 300WSM and 375HH shooting 2-2 1/2" high at 100 yards as I have heard in the colder temps they will shoot a bit lower. Most likely will fire a couple of rounds at camp to make sure.
My nephew call me this morning and told me he was able to getthe "shakes" out of his Bowtech yesterday as he was able to put down a nice south texas 5x5 which green scored 152BC and change. He, myself and a friend are getting all jiggy on next weeks hunt!
Lately I can not seem to get this song out of my head.....
let it snow let it snow.....LET IT SNOWWWWWW

Here's to the Crown
