Buckstopper, Awesome whitetail of your dads....what a beaut! and Beast!

Hia- thanks for the photos bud.. awesome and congrats..

Skeeter, good to hear from you again my friend. I have been busy hunting here as well. I arrowed a reallly nice idaho whitetail in mid october and got a pretty nice bull 6x5 elk to boot.

I hope all your hunting is going well.... I scrolled back through the message here and saw your home away from homes...it looks awesome! After spend a week up there last spring..you dont have a clue of how much I want to hunt up there.. I wish HIA would becomea guide.. So I could come up and hunt with him! dang it.. LOL

I'll post a pic of my buck and bull here...for ya all!

Have a good one all...JOE keep after em bud, your patience will pay off.

Man I love those big massive Canadian bucks...the buck I got this year has really nice chocolate antlers like I saw a lot of up there..I am pretty proud of him, hes my second nicest archery buck.. thus far, he grossed 168 and 2/8ths 6x6

Shed- thanks so much for the sharing.
I think I would hang pretty close to home with bucks like that around. You would be hardpressed to get a better buck anywhere.
Congrats

Shed way to go on your successful season...that is a great whitetail you arrowed!!!! Where I am hunting I haven't seen to many that have that chocolate colouring to their horns, they are a lot lighter but one can't have a collection of all the same kind any way! I may head north to try to fill my second either, so still may get a dark set.

Hia, did you get one of them bucks you were chasing? Details???????

JD, didn't hunt this weekend but did some early am scouting yesterday and saw some great signs. I caught what I believe is one of the bucks I have been waiting on.I never got the best look at him but find it hard to believe thattheir are 2 mainframe 4x4's with a drop tine in this area that I wouldn't alreadyhave noticed this fact. The bad news if so he has moved off but the good news I have permission to hunt this tract of land as well. I found his play ground - rub and scrape littered. I am planning on putting up a blind in a skinny meadow on weds and possibly rattling it mid day later this week. I am giving her nails starting weds through till next weds.I also saw the 5x5 I passed running a doe, she wasn't anywhere close to willing but he was still giving it a go. They crossed right in front of where I was positioned and believe I may have misjudged him slightly, heis better beams than I credited him last week with...no regrets though. Best of luck to you this week.

DoubleA, yes we have had some white stuff and lots of frost. The weathermen can't agree on a long range though, some say warming while other are saying cooler. It'll be what it'll be but you should be ok, as the signs sure point to the rut is approaching. IMO the chase phase or late pre rut is dynamo as well, you will hit one of these phases up that way next week FO SHO! The worse part with warming trends are the higher chance of E or S flows...something few bank on this time of the year. It can make it tough to hunt choice spots as they expect N or W flows this time of year. This has been happening more the past few years so I would expect the outfittershave made plans around these flows...like I and other hunters have. Enjoy your hunt and best of luck to you/your hunting party.

I think this picture is ok quality. I snappeda pic in part of hisrubline when scouting yesterday am. No deer but at least sign one visits the area...lol.

Skeeter...looks like you got a "horny" buck in the area for sure
I thought I would show you a pic that a buddy sent me of a mule deer taken in your neck of the woods last week. He's definately a shooter in my book!

JD, that guy has some sticker's!!! Did he say where or what zone he took him in by chance? Looks like a Camp Dundurn deer!!! Seen a lot come out of their with junk growing every which way...must be chemical testingdone by theCF...lol. Thanks for sharing.

agaucher, congrats on your mulie!!!

I haven't taken a good mulie buck for quite some time (8 years to be exact). Here we have a draw for either sex muliesand it takes 3-5 years to get a tag, depending on the zone, preference points and applicants/tag allocation. The last time I was drawn for either-sex was 2003 and never notched the tag as I was only shooting a book deer, seen some but things just never worked out for me that year.Maybe next year I'll get a tag again.

Gotcha skeeter.
That one above is my largest to date. There are better quality pics in a thread int he big game hunting forum if you are interested.
Thanks though. Likewise, next year its time to start looking for 175 plus.

Kind of a tough question guys... If my mulie scores 160, what would make it jump to 175? Mass? points? spread? I know they all contribute but what i guess I am asking is what would be the most obvious.

Thanks
