As the only hunting show on cable tv, I love it.
Like the others said, I would REALLY like to see a bow hunt for moose.

I watched Dall Sheep hunting via helicopter. Even if the hunters did not know where the rams were, I guarrantee the guides did. Outfitters with aircraft do so much scouting these days that the hunt is only a notch or too above a fenced ranch hunt. Made me want to hang up my sheep rifle. I have watched and enjoyed other episodes. Keep up the Canadian content.

I have watched a few of the episodes and found them to be pretty good as far as hunting shows go. I'm a die hard hunter and it's nice to watch these to get you "in the mood" but they really aren't too realistic for us "true" hunters. What I mean by that is, we don't have the luxury of getting guides to do all the legwork for us. I'm not bitter so don't get me wrong, I realize it's impossible for the show to hunt all these different animals without guides. But sometimes it just makes it seem like I could shoot a monster antelope if someone was watching it for the last 3 years. I do have a couple of suggestions for you Chris:

1. Show a little more "realistic" pre/post-hunting tricks such as set-up areas, tree stand locations, feeding/bedding areas, rubs, scrapes & how to read sign. Basically get the guides to show us the legwork they do and how they go about scouting for the animals.

2. Do some comparison tests similar to those shopping bag girls. Take out 4-5 different products at different price ranges and put them through some real life testing. Take scopes for example, I have read a million posts on which to buy Leupold or Zeiss. Man wouldI love to see the 2 of them up against each other in different tests, light gathering, accuracy, warranty, etc. even against a Tasco & Bushnell...show us what is out there!! It's tough for guy's on a budget to try so many but I think your show could hit the spot.

3. I would love to see some good bird hunts, pheasant, grouse, partridge but more so, something we don't all do...blue grouse, ptarmigan, sage & sharptails.

4. Mule deer hunts!! it's always whitetails, I would love to see some in the prairies and in the badlands.

I do love the fact the show is Canadain and I liked seeing the antelope hunt in Alberta since I'm in that area myself. Keep up the good work and I'm sure the show will evolve into a real winner with the viewers if you keep it fresh and unlik the other stuff out there.

p.s. I'll help you in the testing area if you need a partner!!

Chris,
Just thought of another possible topic for a show. What about the annual pheasant hunt on Pelee Island, Ontario ?

Now if they can only change that commercial on the Dodge Ram. Something a little different would be nice.

JD, unfortunately the "pre- scouting" used by almost all outfritters in BC, Yukon, NWT and Alaska these days involves flying the mountains constantly (usually in a super cub) scouting. Believe me when I say resident hunters get pretty tired of being "buzzed" while on their own wilderness dream hunt. The addition of the helicopter makes it just that much more unethical if legal.
Outfitters are well paid, should they be that lazy? Lets not forgett just whos game is being hunted with such efficiency. I suggest it is yours and mine.

Hey, JD FROM ALBERTA, this is early in from Penna. I'm hunting the Edmonton Bow Zone the second week of Nov. this year andI was wondering if you could tell me what you think about this area and if you've ever hunted here. I'll be hunting with Primitive Outfitters. Thanks for any info.

early...I have never hunted the Edmonton bow zone as I'm about 3hrs away, but I know it's pretty good for whitetails. Ihunt North of Edmonton every year and I've seen some brutes. It's probably similar to Calgary in which there are probably some reall big deer but permission is tough. If you are with a guide, I'm sure that shouldn't be an issue. You timing should be perfect as they will be in prime rut! Just be sure to dress appropriately, it can be anywhere between +10C to -30C. Good luck & let me know how you made out.
p.s. what do they charge for a guided hunt if you don't mind me asking?
