Amateur: one who participates for trophies or momentoes, Professional: one who participates for monetary awards. Maybe the IBO should require anyone other than youth classeswho consistantleypost scores of 400+ in any of the major eventsto move up to the next higher class andcombine ahc and mbr (whats 5 yards anyway) then there would be a complete seperation between the trophy and the money shooters.Hows that for opening a can of worms?

You would think that after reading posts of shooters that are unhappy that something would be done! At least someonecould give some type of explanation, or at least get on hear a tell people that if they dont like how things are run they should move on or something. But its not going to happen! I think the policy is to just wait till things blow over.Could the IBO have payouts like the ASA? Yes,it could! Are they going to change how they do things? No, they are not going to change. The shooters that get on hear and complain are considered to be the minority, and it dosent matter if they majority is upset either! As long as people keep paying the entry fees and the membership dues everybody must be happy?

Thousands of shooters participate in IBO shoots.
Only a tiny fraction ever post here - I would guess few are even aware of this forum or ever visit.
Therefore judging overall satisfaction of the participants based on such a tiny sampling would be foolish.
Polls run at major shoots or when you renew your membership would be a much more accurate method.
Making major changes because a handful of posters here feel that a not for profit organization formed to promote and protect bow hunting should model itself after a for profit group is a stretch at best. And something I hope the IBO never gets drawn into.
The purpose of the IBO is to promote bow hunting - not to provide a venue for a few "amateurs" to win a few bucks.

Steve, you have a good point. I dont think the IBO makes a dime off the big shoots. If I'am not mistaken I think they only get $4 to $6from each shooter? I think the clubs who put on the shoots get $32.00 from each $50.00 entry fee. I also think the clubs determine the payouts. But who determines who gets to put on the shoots, and who runs the clubs that put on the shoots? Their are 2 big shoots in Indiania now. That is a lot of moneyfor the people putting on the shoots their. Their seems to be alot of the board of directors who live in Indiania. Whats next for Indiania the indoor world? Just my opinion, dosent meen much. I have already made up my mind what organization I will shoot with next year. I just wanted to vent a little.

so if ibo does not make any money off the shoots how does its offficals get paid ???? do they have part time jobs or does the so called nonprofit org. have nonprofit salary or is there salary taken out of the thousands of dollars of sponsor money that is given to the ibo or maybe it should go to the shootersbecause if there was noshooters there would be no ibo!

This isin response to how IBO staff gets paid.
The four people that do get paid....get paid from the $5.00 or $6.00 per shooterIBO receive from the tournaments. No wait, $1.50 of that money goes into the World purse, so we four people get paid from the $3.50 per shooterIBO get. Oh and don't forget that running the office also comes out of that $3.50 per shooter. So you do the math and you will see that we don't work here for the money.
By the way, thank you to all the Directors and State Reps. who VOLUNTEER their time and expense.

The payout for the amature classes is based on the 10 dollars from the entry fee that goes to that fund. It is then split between the top twenty places or top 20% of the class. So if there are only 100 shooters in a class that is only 1000 to be split between the top 20 places. Which isn't a lotbut that was what was decided. ASA has a differnet schedule for funding the purse for the payout.
