Went last night to a secluded white oak patch I've done well at in the past. Not many acorns falling yet but quite a few up in the trees. Some oaks closer to where I parked were dropping acorns pretty heavy....lot of deer sign as well. Saw 9 mixed does and fawns, no bucks...all headed to oaks I walked past (duh!!!!). Felt good with the cooler temps.
When walking out on an old logging road, I found three fresh scrapes. Things are starting to gear up!!! Anyone heading out tomorrow?

How'd everyone do? I saw great deer movement this weekend. Saw about 30 deer with 8 being bucks. Nothing anywhere close enough. I hunted the edge of a corn field Sat. morning and a burnt out clear cut in the afternoon. The cutover is really greening up and deer were all over the place. Saw a real good eight point just before dark. Made some mental notes where to move to next.
I've heard of some real dandy bucks taken so far including one giant that will challenge the state record for velvet clad bucks. The best off public land so far is a 140" class taken off Logan Lane southeast of Dover.

I was out of the area this weekend and unable to hunt. Planning on another afternoon trip during the week. I've been told the corn could be comming down in the area I'm hunting so I'm hoping my luck will change. They'll have to move through the woods then. <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Coolerpup, I hunted the same area I was in opening day, saw about 3 or 4 together right before dark, all does. Nothing with any size. I think I got West nile, East Nile, South Nile, Malaria, Yellow Fever....

lemond, yeah, I'm hunting in southern Delaware. I haven't heard much from up north...my "network" doesn't reach up that far. I talk to the managers of Woodland Beach WMA and Cedar Swamp often and here of some real good one's in the area.
I'm not sure where your coming from, but the ride south may be well worth it. There's more state land, less people, prevelant ag lands, more deer, and often bigger bucks. Good luck!
