Flags---I could really care where he lives because wherever it is he obviously thinks he's the only one who knows anything about game management and is now ticked because not a soul on his thread has agreed with him!

Flags, it obvious the op is heavily into success envy, now it is because of non residents that he can't kill a deer. I have run into people like him most of my life, if he is unsuccessful it must be someone else's fault. Could it be he is just a poor hunter since he has stated he talked to a young guy who killed 3 buck and 2 doe. Has to be deer for that to have happened. This guy will continue to blame others for his misfortune, no sense trying to convince him otherwise. Ok now we know he can't kill a deer because people can kill more than one buck and because of the rich nonresidents. I am fine with that. I wonder if he knows it is the doe that give birth.

Are you not interested in killing does? You shouldn't get caught up in who killed the most and biggest anterled deer. Hunting is more than a one up contest. Just because you want some antlers doesn't mean you should act this way. As long as it was legal and the deer get eaten there is no problem. Think about this for a minute....maybe he has better hunting land than you. I know all kinds of hunters who bag their trophy because they are related to multiple landowners that have lots of deer and no other hunters. Then some other guy has to hunt land with less deer and a lot of other hunters. The later will have to work hard just to get 1 deer and many end their season with full tags. And some guys just make mistakes that can be corrected.

This is the time of year to be writing down what you can do next season to make your hunting better. Then you can implement your plans throughout the year in preparation. Find new land, scout more, move your treestands, etc. Find something constructive to do with your time instead of worrying, trust me it will help you next season.

It would seem at the age of 72 that by now you would have learned about proper game management and not want to be pressing your particular views on everyone else as far as what to shoot and how many. You may have a 6 point rule in your camp while other people, especially youngsters just starting out, would be happy with a doe or spike where legal!

Yep, he feigns being concerned about kids and his camp has a 6 point rule.

Are you saying your grandkids have to kill a buck in order to have fun deer hunting? Seems pretty shallow-minded to me. Some of the best memories I have of are hunting trips with my grandfathers back in CO where nobody punched a tag. Just being with them made it all worthwhile. Now that both of those old gentlemen have gone to their rewards, I'd give literally everything I have to spend one more day in the woods with them and if we don't see a deer, no big deal.

Frankly at 72, I'd expect less complaining and more appreciation of being able to hunt with your grandkids. But if you have a 6 pt rule then you're limiting the bucks they can even consider taking. I've never believed in point restrictions. Let people tag the buck they want to tag without putting restrictions on it. Can't eat antlers anyways which is why I tag out on does.

A 72 year old trophy hunter. I would have thought you'd learn better long before now.
